Peter Guyer et Norbert Wiedmer brossent un portrait unique de Manfred Eicher, producteur et fondateur du label allemand ECM Records, tenu pour visionnaire par nombre de mélomanes. Estimant les genres traditionnels sclérosés, Eicher enfantait voici quatre décennies, un continent musical utopique au confluent des formes savantes du jazz, de la musique contemporaine et des musiques du monde. Respectant son mystère et ses silences, les cinéastes ont approché la démarche de Manfred Eicher au travers de passionnantes séances de travail (studio, scène... ) avec des artistes de l’envergure d’Arvo Pärt, Jan Garbarek, Anouar Brahem ou Eleni Karaindrou, compositrice attitrée du cinéaste Theo Angelopoulos.

1) The Sounds are an alternative rock group which formed in Helsingborg, Sweden in 1999. They consist of Maja Ivarsson (vocals) Felix Rodriguez (guitar), Johan Bengtsson (bass), Jesper Anderberg (keyboards) and Fredrik Nillson (drums). The band has released two albums to date: 2002's Living in America and 2006's Dying to Say This to You.
2) The Sounds were a Finnish instrumental rock 'n roll band from the 1960's. Their most known track is "Emma".
