HAMMERED SATIN Biography
Hammered Satin
The brainchild of Noah “King of Glam” Wallace, HS is probably the only true modern “Junkshop Glam”/ Bubblegum Band in America, and with few exceptions, the world! Noah began collecting Junkshop Glam and Bubblegum records in the mid 90s, almost a decade before the first compilations of this recently re-discovered genre hit the US market.
His first band, Teacher’s Pet, was an anomaly in the late 90s, eschewing the prevalent grunge and Indie styles for straight ahead Bubblegum, complete w matching pink monogrammed jumpsuits, platform boots and shag hairdos. His next project, The S’Cool Girls, were a bit tougher and more “Junkshop Glam.”*
Now Hammered Satin has synthesized both of these styles into one, and it’s something you can sing and/or stomp along to immediately.
Besides Noah and HS co-founder and bassist Dan Sandvick, the lineup also features the incredible Elizabeth Boyd (Flytraps) on Lead Guitar, Victor Penalosa (Zeros, Flamin’ Groovies) on the drums, and Don Bolles (Germs, Ariel Pink, Celebrity Skin) on backing vocals, and their recent shows and latest album have been garnering an awful lot of attention and praise from critics and fans alike! Check out their amazing new lp, “Velvet Vortex” (Deadbeat / Burger Records), if the idea of 9 timeless modern Bubbleglam classics is appealing to you...
