April + Vista Biography

April George (violinist, pianist, vocalist, composer) and mattVISTA (producer, bassist, composer) are on the rise, taking their time to carefully extract elements from electronic, alt-rock, soul and classical to create multi-layered, genre-defying compositions. The duo’s genre-defying sound has grabbed the attention of The Fader, Afropunk, NPR, Stereogum, Apple Music Radio and BBC 1Xtra, and seen them tour internationally with groundbreaking artists like Little Dragon, Little Simz, and Goldlink. Their appearance on Berlin-based music platform COLORS Studios has amassed over 1.7M views, and their music has been featured on hit shows like Netflix’ “Dear White People”, HBO’s “I May Destroy You” and the feature film “Really Love”.

Their latest EP, “Pit of My Dreams”, characterizes a new direction for the electronic duo. Their first project since 2018’s critically acclaimed “You Are Here”, it finds them experimenting with a darker and grittier sound than its predecessor. “This project exhibits our desire to raise hell to defy our subduers.” they explain, “it doesn’t offer neat solutions to existential crises. Instead, we wade through our very human perception while searching for an objective reality.” Entirely self-produced, and recorded during the pandemic, it also finds them introspective. “Our examination of the issues that plague our culture, environment and communities awakened our own self-examination,” they say, “we found new reasons to feel uncomfortable and scared, and many of the obstacles we thought we either slaughtered or suppressed, have respawned.”
