About this concert
For many Russian 19th-century thinkers and artists, Britain was a symbol of liberal thought and enlightenment. This concert celebrates the UK and Russia’s longstanding fascination with the other’s culture, curated by Maria Razumovskaya.
This concert is given in parallel with a series of events given by Guildhall musicians in St Petersburg from 11–16 February, as part of the UK-Russia Year of Music. A Voice Between Nations sees St Petersburg State Museum of Theatre & Music and Guildhall School of Music & Drama join forces to revisit and reinvigorate the longstanding fascination that the UK and Russia share for each other’s rich culture of song.
