Back Of A Car

It makes sense that Back of a Car is from New Mexico. Their music is much like that of their home state, where the deserts and mountains quickly become forests and valleys within a matter of minutes. All of the harshness and shrill noise that punk can muster swiftly becomes soft and light, fit for a Chicago basement circa 1999. And that all happens within a single song. After forming in 2014 with guitarist and vocalist Kelley Williams as the sole member, Back of a Car has featured a rolodex cast of members ever since, including members of fellow New Mexicans Sorrytown and Alabama Deathwalk. In 2015, Back of a Car self-released their debut “Neverending” and followed up with the full-length “Unconditional Loathe” in 2016. Several DIY tours with notable shows featuring Jim Ward, The Mountain Goats, Senses Fail, The Appleseed Cast, Drug Church and Gleemer have been a constant for Back of a Car. In 2022, Back of a Car plans to release their much inquired-about follow-up to “Unconditional Loathe” as well as a non-fiction book.
