Jessica in The Rainbow Biography

“Dreamy, intimate experimental pop” -Bandcamp, “New & Notable” 2017 "Fogle’s half-whispered is a thing of intrigue..." -GoldFlakePaint, Tom Johnson (re: cloudlight 2017) ‘Jessica in The Rainbow’ is Jessica Fogle, a singer/songwriter and conservatory-trained pianist, with an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a soundtrack to a movie-musical under her belt (“Were the World Mine” – which won 15 awards, including Best Music in the 2008 Nashville Film Fest). Her truest love of writing solo songs and creating albums, however, has been with her since her childhood in Racine, Wisconsin - at which time she created bands with neighbors and won statewide songwriting awards, complete with school assemblies for her original music. After releasing her first studio album “Du Bist Einen Fogle!” under her name in 2010, in Chicago with producer Ethan Stoller (Music Editor for the Netflix series “Sense8,” with the Wachowskis), and later releasing “Melancholy Frog” in 2011 (originally a lo-fi release in 2007, co-produced with Garrett Lane), she moved to the tiny lakefront town of Grand Haven, Michigan, to reconnect with nature. During her years in Chicago, she developed a local following, was a staple at Gallery Cabaret and The Orphanage, performed all over the city including opening for Cheer-Accident at The Hideout, and being featured on WXRT's Local Anesthetic with Richard Milne. ‘Jessica in The Rainbow’ is the stage name she now performs under, which includes an ever-evolving cast of guest musicians. “Catalysts” – her first album as ‘Jessica in The Rainbow’ – was released independently in November 2014. It was nominated for “Best Album by a New Artist” and “Album of the Year” by the 88.1 WXRT Jammies (2015) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and was even a finalist for “Best Jazz Album” (perhaps for its jazz-folk elements?). In 2015, she was awarded an 'Emerging Songwriter' grant for a two-week writing residency at Crosshatch’s Hill House cabin in Northern Michigan, and had songs featured in the publication ‘Paramanu Pentaquark’ (vol. 4). She was also named one of “Five acts to catch” at Lamp Light Music Festival by Local Spins. On February 12th, 2017 she created a 365-Day Songwriting Challenge, of writing + sharing a new song every day for a year on YouTube (+Instagram @jessicaintherainbow, Twitter @Jessinrainbow, and Facebook.com/jessicaintherainbow), which included writing and releasing an entire album in a weekend in November, which was featured on Bandcamp's "New & Notable" front page. The inspiration for this was her multiple half-completed albums, that are always slated, never finished (3 unreleased since Michigan, 10 unreleased ones from her years in Chicago as well...the latter of which will likely remain in a private vault to die). In honor of this, she just announced a new challenge for 2018 and beyond, wherein she will release 12 albums or eps in 12 months (*note: not all on her Jessica in The Rainbow Bandcamp either - sign the mailing list or follow on social media to stay up-to-date about this year's collaborations and releases). She also has a Patreon where you can be part of her insider's fan club for a small monthly donation. Additionally, she is part of the band cloudlight, which in August 2017 released their debut EP/mini-album that was also featured on Bandcamp's "New & Notable" and reviewed favorably on GoldFlakePaint.
