Elastic Bond Biography
Miami-based recording artist Elastic Bond brings an urban edge with a tropical twist to the indie music scene combining the hypnotic grooves of electronica with different styles of soul, hip-hop, funk, and Latin. Being part of a new generation of Latinos growing up in the US who have bloomed to represent their roots, as well as their influences in their music across the globe, their city has recognized them as cultural ambassadors and local heroes. In 2013 the band got signed to Nacional Records, the leading label in the Latin Alternative genre, and released their latest album "Real" which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Latin Alternative charts and made a few Top lists of 2013 including the iTunes Hot Albums of 2013, and PRI “The World's Top 16 albums you should have listened to in 2013”. Selected as a "World Café Next Artist" by NPR and dubbed "Florida funk fusionists" by the LA Times, the band has garnered rave reviews from coast to coast receiving generous radio airplay from tastemakers while making fans all around the world. Their well-crafted songs have been featured on various TV networks such as MTV, Concert Channel, PBS, ESPN, CNN, Discovery Channel, Nickelodeon, CW Networks, Univision and ABC, and continuously rotated on various radio shows around the world. The group originated in Miami, Florida as a collaborative project between Venezuelan producer Andres Ponce and Honduran singer-songwriter Sofy Encanto. The studio project later sprouted into three albums and a vibrant live show that features the talents of guitarist Buffalo Brown and trumpet player David Burgos, amongst other guest musicians. Elastic Bond has performed in festivals and venues in different North American markets such as New York, Boston, LA, Washington DC, North Carolina (Charlotte, Asheville), Seattle, Albany and Vancouver; and has been a showcasing artist at the LAMC in New York 2011 & 2013, Latin Billboard Conference 2012 and Hispanicize Conference 2014. Their new album title “Honey Bun” is set to be released in February 2017 and it has been very well received by tastemaker radio station LA’s KCRW which has praised and added it to its rotation.
