Cory Gallant Biography
Born in Rural PEI, Cory was introduced to traditional country music at an early age. Picking up the guitar at the age of 12, Cory self taught himself with the help of a couple chords shown to him by his mother. Cory entered singing competitions around this time and quickly realized he had a passion for entertaining. After writing some material and getting a few tunes from another local, Cory took off to Nashville and recorded a CD at the age of 19. While in Nashville, he had the opportunity to sing at the Nashville Palace and The Grand Ole Opry.
Upon returning to Ontario, Cory joined ta Hamilton Based band called the Bareback Riders as their front man and enjoyed his time with the Boys for 7 years, playing the circuit, winning a national battle of the band's competition and recorded a video for CMT called ride, which was written by the BBR bass player Chris Mancini. With the BBR, Cory had the oppportunity to open for Canadian acts Emerson Drive, George Canyon, Johnny Reid, Leahy, Aaron Pritchet, The Wilkensons, abd Doc Walker.
Also during this time Cory traveled as a Tim McGraw impersonator and shared the stage with Such acts as Tom Cochrane, Trooper, Kim Mitchell, Mark Chesnutt and Marty Stuart, as well as playing at the Calgary Stampede for two years and traveling to Japan twice to entertain the US Navy as well as frequent stops throughout the US.
Cory now lives in PEI with his wife and three daughters , and plays with his band Old Doctor Young as well as frequent solo shows across PEI showcasing a large catalog of covers and new original tunes
