Limousine

There are at least 5 bands called Limousine:

1) Limousine(CH) - see/ listen: "Not The One" - is an All-Girls-Rock'n'Roll Band: Straight from the Gut, Right to the Heart. In autumn 2003, the four women from Switzerland had finally met. Their common passion: rock music. All of them had band experience and it did not take them long to find out that the dynamics of the all-girl-combo will set a special energy free. The demo album was ready after only 2 days. It was quite a surprise for the band when a distribution became aware of it and suggested to launch the album exactly the way it was. The response from the media was enormous and went far beyond the band´s expectations. Limousine's songs tell stories about love, thorns in the heart and the power of incapacity. Their arrangements are simple, without any frills. And the catchy melodies get you hooked more easily than you would like them to.

2) Limousine were formed in Cordoba, Spain by mid 2001 under the premise of creating different rock music, evocative and that didnt rely on mainstream criteria. Their career started when they stood for the contest Desafinado, whose jury had distinguished personalities of the national alternative scene as Jesus Llorente (in charge of the label Acuarela), J (singer of Los Planetas), or Julio Ruiz (Discogrande - RNE3). The members of the jury were astonished when the band decided to leave the stage at the very half of their performance, refusing to play under the awful sound conditions that the organization provided. In spite of this, the band gave evidence of their personality and quality as performers and were proclaimed winners of the edition together with two other local bands: Blue Channel and Deneuve. The prize made it possible to record three songs (A Drive, But Im Going Down and Cmon) in a professional studio so they could introduce themselves to some record labels. Several of them were interested in releasing their first long-play, and the band opted for Mushroom Pillow, a label from Madrid of Galician origin.

Their first LP was named The Phenomenon Caravan Troupe (Mushroom Pillow, 2004), record with which they, apart from becoming well-known in the Spanish scene, got into foreing markets as Japan, Belgium, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Portugal. In Spain they received tons of good reviews from specialized press, most of them stressing the fact that they didnt sound like any regular Spanish band and praising the originality of their sound and the quality of their songs.

In May 2006 the band released their second record, a double album called The Abyss You Can Reach With A Hand (Mushroom Pillow, 2006).
