ÅGE STEN NILSEN & The Butterflies
En av landets råeste og mest profilerte rocke vokalister gikk overraskende nye veier som soloartist når han lanserte sitt første soloalbum på 8 år, SMOOTH SEAS (Don’t Make Good Sailors).
Parallelt med sin nye rocke satsing AMMUNITION, har Åge Sten Nilsen gått mot et langt mer akustisk uttrykk med Folk Rock preg som soloartist. Etter en lengre periode med akustiske intimkonserter alene på scenen er han nå endelig klar for å presentere sitt solo band, The Butterflies, live på scenen.
Grunnbasen i hans band består av Atle Rakvåg (Bass), Ola Aanje (tangenter), Eivind Kløverød (trommer) og strenge-mesteren Freddy Holm, som alle medvirker på Åge Sten Nilsen’s kommende album “Crossing The Rubicon”, nok en gang produsert av Freddy Holm. Albumet slippes først i September, men det planlegges flere singler denne våren og sommeren.

«En helakustisk Åge Sten Nilsen lanserer ti nye låter, og gamle og nye fans kan glede seg. Dette albumet er sterkt håndverk fra den tidligere glamrockeren i Wig Wam, denne gang nedstrippet og neddempet, men like vel til dels heftig instrumentert. Særlig i molltoneartene er dette et bemerkelsesverdig godt album, og det er Nilsens tredje. Albumet byr stort sett på uvanlig sterk poesi og en vokalist i øverste divisjon. Åge Sten Nilsen kler også overraskende godt å synge mer lavmælt enn tidligere. Denne platen kan heldigvis ikke båssettes, fordi den henter elementer fra mange sjangere. Selv synes jeg helheten best kan beskrives som en slags blanding av Paul McCartney og Sting. For meg er det knapt mulig å gi en bedre kompliment enn det. » -Stig Nilsson F.B »

ÅGE STEN NILSEN Biography
ÅGE STEN NILSEN is a high profiled Norwegian artist and songwriter. Currently active as the front man of the reunited hardrock band WIG WAM, AMMUNITION and the newly established Scandinavian band project HAMMER with Pretty Maids guitarist Ken Hammer. He's also works continuously as a solo artist and released his fifth solo album "Crossing The Rubicon" in 2018.
He had his major break through with the glam rock band WIG WAM in 2005, when the band made a name for themselves
with the monster hit "IN MY DREAMS" in the Eurovision Song Contest. Wig Wam released in total 5 studio albums and was
active from 2001 - 2013 before reuniting in 2019 with their strongest album to date "NEVER SAY DIE".
Åge Sten Nilsen later joined the "Super Group" NORDIC BEAST, with members from Motörhead,
Europe and King Diamond as an "all star band project". He also formed the rock band AMMUNITION with Eclipse singer Erik Mårtensson on guitar. The band has released two studio albums so far, and is currently working on their third.
In addition to his original music Åge Sten Nilsen has sold more than 650.000 tickets to his Queen tribute show "The Show Must Go On" in his native Norway.
