About this concert
Nunhead Community Choir is a fun, friendly group that just loves to sing. We meet and practise from 7.30 (warm up at 7.45pm) 9.30 every Thursday evening during term times at Ivydale School and perform at all sorts of local events. Our songs include pop classics, show tunes and folk songs from all around the world, the majority arranged by our young and talented musical director, Ben Swan. We're a very mixed group, with people from all walks of life and every level of ability. We're not a classical choir; we're not a church choir we're a community choir. You don't need any training, experience or the ability to read music. The only rule is that you have to want to sing! Vocallective is a friendly, non-audition choir that's buzzing with personality and fun. We've been running for 8 years, and several original members are still part of the choir. We sing classic pop, world music, folk, musicals and more - music of many flavours for those with good taste. We love a challenge and are always working to make our performances more entertaining, whilst expanding and improving our musicality. Our classy and eclectic repertoire is as diverse as we are and we're very proud of that! We rehearse on Tuesday evenings in SE23 and everyone is welcome to come and join a rehearsal. We're sure you won't look back! Tradewinds is a South London choir of 19 women who've been singing together for more than 10 years, singing fresh arrangements of songs old and new, from the Pyrenees to the Isle of Islay, from Tennessee to Nigeria and in styles from jazz to folk, pop to mediaeval. We perform at concerts, local festivals and events and have supported charities such as Amnesty International, the MS Trust, and Music in Detention. We've forged links with choirs in France and Germany and learned repertoire from those countries. Concerts have been shared with the Georgian Women's choir, Camden Voices, the Hasty Nymphs, and Vocal Chords. Last year, with our partners Bellow Fellows, we performed in the Brandenburg Festival. Note-Orious are a fun, friendly community choir based in East Dulwich at the East Dulwich Tavern. We currently have around 40 members men and women from all walks of life who come together on a Monday evening to sing. There is no audition, and anyone can join, as long as they can sing in tune. Regular concerts in and around East Dulwich are complemented by forays further afield to the South Bank, London Bridge Station and Southwark Park. Our repertoire is primarily pop, rock and indie.
