About this concert
ROLL UP! ROLL UP!! ITS THE FOURTH ANNUAL TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC SPECTACULAR.. THE GRAND OLE PIGRY! The Grand Ole Pigry… a concert in a theatre … with a Stage Manager… and a Dressin’ Room, a Big Curtain and a Candy Bar. The Pigs put together a Country Music show just like they do in Nashville… Now in its fourth year of hundreds! Starring chart topping superstars The Pigs and very special guests… : Pete Denahy, Mal Web & Kylie Morrigan With special guests the elusive… but incredibly funny multi-golden guitar winner, Pete Denahy! “Pete Denahy’s amazing! I know everything about him. I watch him when he sleeps” and Australia’s foremost Pete Denahy impersonator, Pete Donahue and incredible multi-instrumentalist & musical funny man Mal Web with violin virtuoso Kylie Morrigan. Imagine Einstein, Dr Seuss and Paganini making pancakes! Crikey!! More on The Pigs: Australia’s architects of barefoot hillbilly pop, The Pigs, are an unmissable festival experience. This year, The Pigs have trotted their way up to No. 1 on the Australian Independent Albums Chart with Hillbilly Synthesiser… born somewhere between the rugged mountains of Australia and the electronic musical heart of Berlin, Germany, the result being 12 tracks from rocking tunes to bluegrass-laced numbers to their first love song. Join The Pigs as they play many of their greatest hits from 14 years on the road – putting their unique twist on artists from Farnham to Beyonce and launching tracks from their chart-topping album. More on Pete Denahy: In 2007, Pete Denahy released a song called Sort Of Dunno Nothin which went viral on youtube and radio stations around Australia. The song gained so much attention, it became better known than Pete Denahy himself, who until then was famous mostly in the wine cask areas of small town supermarket bottle shops. His fame has spread moderately since and he now enjoys being recognized in some of the larger shopping centres. His comedy material includes such songs as The Petrol Head Fly, The Shopping Trolley, Bat In The Cave, The Target Song, Toilet Paper, Poker Machine and You Actually Burn More Calories Eating Celery Than You Get From The Celery Itself. Pete’s love of bluegrass music has taken him to Japan and the United States, making friends and picking tunes and songs with some of the best. His main instruments are guitar and fiddle, although he also plays mandolin and some banjo. He has several bluegrass releases including Wishbone Road and Singin’ Shoes. He takes groups of Australians to Japan and the USA to explore bluegrass and country music abroad and loves touring Australia with his own show of comedy (family friendly) and bluegrass music. More on Mal Webb and Kylie Morrigan: Vocal adventurer, multi-instrumentalist and looping beatboxing songwriter Mal sings his brain provoking songs using all sorts of vocal techniques, guitar, mbira, slide trumpet, trombone, chromatic harmonica and a loop recording pedal called Derek. And Kylie (who’s played with Orchestra Victoria and the likes of Stevie Wonder and Barry White!) provides violin and voice in a perfect balance to Mal’s nutsness. Their arrangements are intricate and playful.

The Pigs Biography

Australia’s favourite bluegrass funsters The Pigs (our heroes) are known worldwide for their combination of super-catchy original tunes and foot-stomping ‘Piggified’ cover versions. Crashing through musical genres like a runaway tractor, The Pigs recordings marry superb musicianship with a distinctly Australian sense of humour – and hints at the uniquely bent energy of The Pigs’ exceedingly popular live shows.

The Pigs are a family band, never found without their trademark blue singlets and Hillbilly hats. Brothers T-Bone and Stretch Pig sing lead vocals and play acoustic guitars, with Cousin Bert Pig on double bass and Cousin Shamus Pig beating his stand-up drum kit and are often joined on stage by wayward family members Cousin Montz on banjo and Cousin OINK on fiddle.
