About this concert
Melbourne cinematic art rock group, Fierce Mild, are touring the country this August/September in support of their debut album, ‘Death’s Kingdom', releasing through Stargazed Records.‘Death’s Kingdom’ is a deeply introspective journey that connects people with their subconscious nature. The themes of the music and artwork are dark and disturbing. A catalyst with the darker elements of the human psyche - to acknowledge our propensity for destruction, but to come to terms with living with that reality in a meaningful and positive way. Mental illness (in particular, psychosis and schizophrenia) is a large subject in the music and artwork. The work came together at an off-grid studio a few hours out of Melbourne with producer Nikita Miltiadou (Tash Sultana, Client Liaison, Crooked Colours) and involved experimentation with Trumpets, Violin, Didgeridoo and Glass bottle percussion. The result is a dense transcendental and ritualistic experience of interconnected moments where central themes pop out and create revelatory moments. This show takes place on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung people who have been coming together with music, dance and art longer than any other culture on earth. We respect the traditional custodians’ sovereignty over this land, which was never ceded.

Fierce Mild Biography

A catalyst to engaging and discovering your psyche, and contemplating deeper and darker reasoning, Fierce Mild has been described as a synthesis of David Lynch & The Drones - a group that draws from cinema, visual art and Australian history, as much as any musical influences, to craft their intricate brand of Post-Electro Cinematic Art Rock. Comparisons aside, the music and artwork of Fierce Mild plays heavily on the idea of awakening the sleeping, and separating from the constructed world around us. Time is altered as multiple moments are displayed at once while the act merges music, sound art and 3 channels of live projection art to create a feeling of synaesthesia where structure completely suspends. The cinematics of the spectacle are brought ever more to life by Jess Keeffe’s electric cello work, whilst the stunning Surrealist-Horror projection works of live-performing video artist Stephanie Peters are matched to beautiful dreamscapes of sound between songs that bind the music together.
