About Gene Moore

On Introspection, the new 6-track EP from Gene Moore, the singer/songwriter has effortlessly brought together aspects of his two previous Motown Gospel offerings, The Future and Tunnel Vision. His faith-filled, strong and smooth vocals showcase his exceptional blending of genres throughout the songs.

“I’m a singer, and I don’t want to be put in a narrow box. Yes, I was a church kid – I’m still a member of the March of Faith Community Church in Texas, but I wanted to expand my vision of gospel and incorporate more pop, R & B, soul, and funk into this new music. I wanted to tap into different styles while still maintaining my beliefs and my faith.”

Moore has had an interesting history in the music business. He was a professional background singer for many artists before stepping out on his own. “Singing background allowed me to be a student and glean from some of the greatest teachers,” says Moore. His credits include India. Arie, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Kim Burrell, and a seven-year stint singing for gospel superstar Kirk Franklin.

Moore spent the last four years seriously reflecting and thinking on what he wanted to explore with his new music. “Every song is dealing with how I’m processing my life. I didn’t know where I was going, I just ended up singing out my thoughts.”
Introspection is the perfect title for his EP, and India.Arie shows up to duet with him on the track entitled ”Beautiful” which is a lush, horn-heavy, heartfelt love ballad.

The first track “Alright,” is a hand-clapping, gospel-tinged inspirational tune produced by the inspirational band Red Hands and written by award-winning performer B. Slade. Moore considers this track to be self-affirming. “Commit” has got an upbeat pop/soul vibe and is about eliminating distractions and committing to executing a life of purpose which was written by Paco Walls of the Walls Group. “No Doubt,” also written by Paco Walls, is about overcoming self-doubt and believing in yourself.

Going for a “Sam Cooke vibe,” on the slow and steady track “I Believe,” Moore incorporates a throwback to traditional spirituals, as he sings “even on my bad days, I still believe.” The song has taken on a new meaning for him, as he sang it to his mother just before she passed. The last track, “Thanks,” is an R & B-flavored tune with an urban groove simply reflecting one’s life and thanking God for it. This song features a rap from hip hop artist Oswin Benjamin and the Red Hands band playing full out.

Moore has been nominated for several awards including a Stellar Award for Best New Artist of the Year in 2017, a Dove Award in 2019 for Best Gospel Song “Won’t Be Moved,” and two Grammy ® Award nominations – one in 2020 for Best Gospel Album “Tunnel Vision” and one in 2023, for the song “The Better Benediction” with PJ Morton.

The EP’s uplifting, inspiring messages, impeccably produced by Red Hands and the acclaimed Ced Smith, will not satisfy you, but most likely leave you wanting more…from Moore.
