The Post Biography

There are several bands called Post or the Post: (1) a swedish pop band. (2) the Australian jazz/elecronica artist James Wilkinson. (3) an italian band. (4) a US experimental rock band, (5) a Panamanian pop rock band.

Post (1) from Sweden.
Göteborg based "bureaucracy-pop" band. Their style is 80's new wave inspired, pretentious and stylish and singing swedish lyrics. The band is not dissimilar to swedish artists Lustans Lakejer, Hansson de Wolfe United, Niels Jensen or Reeperbahn.
They are the band behind songs like "Jag tackar Gud att du dansar", "Inatt behöver jag en vän" och "Istället för mig" in the charts.

Post (2) from Australia.
Another band called The Post is a solo project of James Wilkinson, a Melbourne avant-jazz musician. His other outings include High Pass Filter and Bucketrider. He has one self-titled album of experimental avant-jazz/glitch/pop/funk under this moniker.

Post (3) from Italy.
A non-italian-sounding band from Turin, Italy. Their first self-produced album called "Post" was produced by Davide Tomat (N.A.M.B.) in 2006.
Line-up includes: Gio Franco (vocals, bass, shaker), Davide Novallet (guitars, vocals), Gigi Laurino (bass, effects), Antonio Monaco (drums, vocals).

The Post (4) from USA.
important note: the cds you see for this artist are for the fourth entry only. they do not represent in any way the work of the first three entries. who most likely have their own stuff. be well, the post.

Where their debut, Backwards, was full of tape loop experiments and tribal percussion layered over bass and guitar lines, their follow-up, Hasten The Homecoming, has done the reverse by positioning emphasis on the guitar layers a lá the early '90s guitar hooks of Sonic Youth & Dinosaur Jr. or the beauty of Branca and Chatham's
guitar orchestras. Oliver Boch's vocals lie somewhere between Eno-era David Byrne and, Eno-era Robert Wyatt.

Much like, Hasten The Homecoming, In the event of tomorrow was recorded in two sessions, but this time main
man Oliver Boch navigated a line up change--finally settling with Andrew Maxon on bass and Daniel Whipple manning the drums.
The layers are still ever present, but the defined drumming and guitar work is sharply focused allowing the vocals to float above the textured depth of sound. Combined with the visual aspect this band can create in a live setting, The Post create an environment that's easy to enter but hard to escape.

With three full lengths, a few eps and lots of touring behind them The post has started work on the next record. This one is based on the book and movie watership down. Recording sessions began in the summer at Russian Recording and the band hopes to be done with the record by february.
They are also working on videos for the record and a short film that will be entered into a local film festival and perhaps beyond.

Post (5) from Panama
The band was formed by Horacio Valdes and Nano Aleman in 2005, after being together in the band Son Miserables for 13 years.
