The Gitas Biography
Firing with an arsenal of truth, aggression, heavy riffs and swagger—all the required ingredients of rock—Los Angeles-based trio, THE GITAS, hit the musical battlefield with their 2017 full-length edgy album Beverly Kills and immediately showcase their uniquely explosive brand of soulful rock that incorporates hints of grunge, punk, pop and heavier elements. The 13-track album underscores Hinduism undertones and the album’s artwork showcases imagery of Kali—the goddess of material illusion—who then also reappears in the album’s title track, which is in fact a hymn to the Hindu goddess. Focusing on the song, THE GITAS’ founder, guitarist and vocalist Sasha Chemerov, who is originally from the Ukraine notes, “‘Beverly Kills’ is a song which shows how everyone in the world is a consumer. The band is laughing at them and also crying because of how people are so blind and living an illusion filled with greed and jealously.” Rounding out the band is bassist Sal Ramazzini (originally from the jungle of Guatemala City). Prior to Sal joining the band, Sasha recorded Garland, a 2015 EP, which launched the band. During a playback of the EP in the studio Sal overheard and requested a jam session with Sasha. After 20 minutes of jamming, Sal had joined The Gitas and completed the lineup. The Gitas’ single “Mood For Love” held the #1 spot for 8 months on the Ukrainian National Music Charts, above Eminem and Rihanna.
