The Big Pine Band was formed in 2016 by the Treasure Coast’s own singer/songwriter favorite Smokey Gage. The band’s sound is built around Smokey’s relatable story telling and unforgettable soulful vocals. The backline is comprised of Randy Finn on bass and Zeke Merkel on drums/percussion. Randy has established himself as a standout bassist spanning the styles of rock, blues, jazz, bluegrass, metal and more with a strong improvisory sensibility. Zeke is known as a powerful and in the pocket drummer laying down intricate rhythms. Together they weave rich and intoxicating grooves.
The Big Pine Band is an original guitar driven Florida Jam band. Fueling that sound is the highly acclaimed lead/slide guitarist and vocalist Jake Walden. Jake developed his slide playing based on the styles of Duane Allman and Derek Trucks, yet his sound is all his own. It resonates and captivates. The Big Pine Band has developed a strong and rapidly growing fan base that is enthusiastically embracing their music, performances and vision.
