Potty Mouth Biography
Potty Mouth are LA-based pop rock trio Abby Weems (guitar, lead vocals), Ally Einbinder (bass) and Victoria Mandanas (drums). Originating in 2011 from Northampton, Massachusetts, Potty Mouth emerged from a casual, "why not?" attitude when Einbinder, who met Mandanas while students at Smith College, set out to form a band with like-minded women who shared her interest in growing together as musicians. Weems soon emerged as having a knack for songwriting, and what started out as a casual pastime turned into a way of life. Their 2013 album, Hell Bent, put them on the map, and subsequent years of touring and an acclaimed self-titled EP in 2015 reinforced their status as one of punk’s most rock-solid and talented upstarts.
In 2016, Potty Mouth began working with engineer Courtney Ballard in his Los Angeles studio. They recorded a stockpile of songs which eventually came together as their sophomore album “SNAFU.” In the years leading up to its release, Einbinder said, “We were being given this old-fashioned music industry wisdom—to wait for someone else to make things happen—but why?” They released “SNAFU” in March 2019 on Get Better Records, an independent label “for the queers” co-run by Einbinder and her partner, Alex Lichtenauer.
Potty Mouth has since released two additional singles: “I Wanna,” which appears on a limited edition 7-inch, and “Favorite Food,” a back-to-basics track inspired by 90s-era Green Day and The Muffs.
Having spent the last three years touring relentlessly with acts like PUP, Masked Intruder, Against Me!, The Go Gos, CHVRCHES and Skating Polly, Potty Mouth's raw and high energy live show is a sight to behold.
