About this concert
Count Kujo invite you to celebrate the release of their latest album of Afrobeat and Jazz, Abeng. A commemoration of the Jamaican Maroons who used the Abeng conch shells to communicate across mountains and to summon the ancestors during the fight against slavery. A night of passionate, expressive Jazz and Afrobeat fused with influences from across the globe. The shape of music to come will be grounded in our ancestral past. Support from Roxalas.
Count Kujo are a youthful 9 piece Afro-Jazz band based in Brighton, brought together through a shared love of Jazz, cultural diversity and expressionism. Expect to see the young cats stretching out so far, they reach the embrace of the ancestors.
