The Hand Biography

The Hand is a collaborative band of seasoned musicians who are no strangers to the hard yards of rock ‘n’ roll. The philosophy behind The Hand is simply to play great songs people know and love, with passion and energy. The band plays a mixture of original music anthemic covers. The Line up is: Donald Reid: Electric and acoustic guitars, and vocals Greg Hart: Lead guitar Geoff Fitzpatrick: Bass Steve Rooney: Drums Matt and Greg have been playing together since before they could legally drive. They extensively toured Europe with their previous band, "Wild Turkey", for a number of years before being locked in a French police cell and deported. Matt and Greg also served time in the House Band of the popular New Zealand TV Show, Sports Cafe. Donald Reid has co-written a number of songs with his brother James Reid of The Feelers (eg: Communicate, Fallout Shelter, The Web, Weapons Of War…). With his first solo album, Donald had solid radio play with “All The Advice”, “You and Me, My Friend”, “Not A Love Song”, and “Forget Myself”. The more recent single “Hitting on Me” as also been released to radio. Geoff Fitzpatrick is a legendary bass player who also plays in The Recliner Rockers and The Voodoo Creepers. Donald has played shows with Simple Minds, Carole King, Joan Armatrading, Martha Wainwright, Byan Ferry, Kris Kristofferson, Eskimo Joe, The Feelers, Opshop, The Exponents, etc see: www.donaldreid.co.nz.
