Don’t get this twisted, they are not to be confined in one style, but rather the ethos of those genres seems to permeate.. and create a style all its own." --Sir Jorge, punk rock blogger, review of 'Misfit' EP ------------------------------ The Electrets released their first EP entitled 'Misfit' on August 16th, 2014 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, opening for pop punk outfit Hey Violet (formerly Cherri Bomb). They've been played by Kevin Bronson on BuzzBands.LA, and by DJs Mr. Shovel and Julie Slater on LA's 88.5 KCSN, by Jason Ellis' "new music Wednesday" on Sirius/XM Faction, and various internet radio stations. Their track "See You At The Morgue" was featured on DJ Mr. Shovel's "Favs of 2014" playlist. The band released the single "Falling Awake" with b-side "Has Been" on May 29th, 2015. "Has Been" has been licensed for a forthcoming documentary about roller derby. Singer and multi-instrumentalist Tiff Schirz formed the all-female Electrets in late 2013 with bassist Stephanie Rose, after the two met through a mutual friend. Soon Mindy Ihrke stepped in to cover keyboards, percussion and some vocals, and Andrea Cline completed the lineup on drums. Ihrke departed the band in 2015 to start a family, and Hannah Ferber stepped in as her replacement. Influenced by bands like the Ramones, the Pretenders, and the Go-Go's, the band blends punk and power-pop grooves with quirky keyboard lines, harmonies, and modern-day female irreverence.
