About this concert
Rock House Lodge presents its first annual Summer Concert Series for a Cause. This season, the cause is to support Rogue Climate and their work on the campaign to stop the Jordan Cove LNG. In an effort to raise awareness about the proposed Jordan Cove fracked gas export project, which threatens the Rogue River, our climate, and our communities, we invite you to an intimate evening of music with a call to action. We put on concert performances for music lovers. We treat the show as we would a movie or a play - with respect for the performers and an attentive audience. It's also entirely possible that a dance floor might break out. It's a truly lovely experience. Come see for yourself. ABOUT FAR OUT WEST Far Out West is a quartet from Portland, OR that blends rock, funk, and Americana into seamless and poignant instrumental improvisations to create a one-of-a-kind sound. Their uplifting original songs feature powerful vocals and strong arrangements, giving their jams a solid platform from which to launch and evolve. Far Out West's love of performing is always apparent with a consistent response from their audiences bouncing along to their infectious, high-spirited grooves. Their energy and love for music is palpably delightful, and their in-the-pocket, virtuosic playing intrigues party animals and discerning listeners alike. The band has played notable events like Northwest String Summit, 4 Peaks Music Festival, Beltane Music Festival, Schweitzer Mountain’s Fall Fest, Juniper Jam, and Oregon Brewer’s Festival, and has been featured alongside notable artists like Becca Stevens, Jeff Austin Band, Dirty Revival, World’s Finest, and Jelly Bread. ABOUT THE JORDAN COVE LNG PROJECT The Jordan Cove LNG project is a proposal by Pembina Pipeline Corporation, a company from Alberta, Canada, to transport fracked gas from the Rockies and Canada across southern Oregon to Coos Bay. A 36-inch fracked gas pipeline called Pacific Connector would travel 229 miles from Malin to Coos Bay where the gas would be turned into liquefied natural gas (LNG) at a giant new terminal, put on large tankers and sent overseas to Asia. The pipeline would cross 485 bodies of water in the Coos, Coquille, Umpqua, Rogue and Klamath watersheds. These crossings would require extensive riparian clearing that would reduce shade, increase sedimentation, and threaten already endangered species. The Jordan Cove LNG project would become the largest source of climate pollution in the state by 2020. Cultural resources, traditional tribal territories and burial grounds are threatened by both the pipeline route and the export facility. Hundreds of landowners are being be threatened with eminent domain for the pipeline right of way if they don't sign a settlement with the company for use of their land. Proceeds from the Rock House Concert will support the musicians, the mission of Rogue Climate and the campaign to stop the Jordan Cove LNG terminal and the Pacific Connector fracked gas pipeline.
