Equinox

For the third EP entitled Endeavour, Equinox is drawing upon the essence of his creative process, returning to the source of his inspirations, questioning what led him to compose and assert an atmospheric electro-pop sound. In this state of mind, the Montreal producer explored a wide range of ethereal sounds and rhythms, multiple vocal interactions harmonized with synthesizers, keyboards and guitars, oscillating between analog and digital. In Endeavour, this musical universe reinforces the concerns of the author about his existence, the emergency to translate thoughts, irrational and alarming at times, that are nevertheless regarded as sine qua non conditions to achieve happiness. Combining images with sounds Mathieu Magny, also known as Equinox, distinguishes itself by his ability to create a sonic experience based on the mixture of analog and digital synthesizers and traditional instruments, giving a vintage flavour to resolutely modern productions. The Montreal producer managed to reach the top of the Canadian Electronic iTunes charts at the moment of the releases of his first two albums in April 2013 and July 2014. The songs « Regardless to the Tides, « A Shining Sea », « Restless Night », « As Vast as the Sea » et « They Move so Quickly » were incorporated into the soundtrack of the Ouisurf television show, broadcasted on Canal Évasion. Dans Endeavour, cet univers musical renforce les questionnements de son auteur sur la vie, sur l’urgence de concrétiser des pensées parfois même irrationnelles ou anxiogène qu’il considère comme des conditions sine qua non pour accéder au bonheur. Mathieu Magny, alias Equinox, se distingue par son habileté à créer une expérience sonore en mélangeant des synthétiseurs analogiques et numérique avec des instruments passés d’époque, donnant une saveur rétro à des productions résolument modernes. Le producteur montréalais a tiré son épingle du jeu avec deux premières productions, The Midnight Breach et Night Heist, qui se sont maintenues au sommet du palmarès canadien électronique d’iTunes lors de leurs sorties en avril 2013 et juillet 2014.
