Mosquito Cabaret

Mosquito Cabaret is a folk & world-music sextet hailing from the waters of Norfolk, Virginia. Influenced by groups such as Gogol Bordello, Tom Waits, Golem, Beirut, & Shantel-- the group set out to make music that knows no borders!

Forming in the summer of 2017 with a melting pot of sonic qualities; Mosquito Cabaret consists of equal parts folk, punk, klezmer, humppa, rembetika, and so much more!

Performing all over Hampton Roads from norFOLK Fest at O'Connors Brewery to invading the shores of Virginia Beach at Shaka's Live; Mosquito Cabaret has shared the stage with local groups: Hot Gumbo Brass Band, Tornado Bait, Deathhouse Blues, Spirit Gun, and more + national acts such as Dry Reef, the Atom Age, Maid of Ace, Agents of Good Rots, the Toasters, and the legendary surf-punks Agent Orange!

On October 11th, 2017 the group released their official debut single, "River King" to the world-- which is now available everywhere digitally such as iTunes, Bandcamp, Spotify, and more!

Since its release, "River King" has had appearances on radio locally on WHRO's, "Out Of the Box" program with Paul Shugrue & "The Local 757" show on 96X + nationally on WPKN in Bridgeport, Connecticut with Cliff Furnald and KALX 90.7 FM in Berkley, California.

Mosquito Cabaret's, "River King" has even appeared internationally on the Rootsworld.org/TaintRadio.org program that broadcasts on, “The New Haven Independent” on WNHH-LP 103.5 FM in New Haven, Connecticut as well as RadioFolk.dk in Copenhagen, Denmark + Rcfm.es in Mérida, Spain, WESU 88.1 FM in Middletown, Connecticut, & Radio Pacoul in France.

Mosquito Cabaret has also been featured in many podcasts from all over, including: FolkCast, Idiosyncratic Transmissions, & FreakOuternational.

Never skipping a beat, the swarm is growing as Mosquito Cabaret continues to play more and more shows and most recently have just released their debut album, "The Modern Life Of Insects" via Dead Run Records & Sick Zip Records!!!!
