The Good Mess Biography

The roots of this band can be followed back to 2007 when Tim, Mario, and Josh went to college together and played music at local open mics. After going their separate ways post-graduation, Tim and Mario formed the band "The Suits" in 2012. With the addition of Mike on drums, the band spent time dedicated to the development of a large catalog of original music prior to starting to gig. The band changed their name in 2014 to The Good Mess and started playing shows. Josh joined the band soon after seeing them play their 2nd show, solidifying the lineup as it stands today. In early 2015 the band recorded its first EP "Smoke Like Ghosts" at the famous Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA and officially released it that September. 2015 has proved to be a big year for the band, not only for their EP release but for their participation in the first annual Legendary Dobbs Rock-Con and the fourth annual Liberty Music Fest. Drawing comparisons to Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Bush the band continues to write high energy rock songs and look forward to having them appear on future releases.

Tim Mellor (Guitar, Vocals) - Tim Mellor is the guitarist, vocalist, and one of the principal song writers for The Good Mess. Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1987, Tim started playing guitar when he was 12 years old. Tim has played in several small local bands such as All Eyes on June, and Shotgun Addiction. As a front man and vocalist, Tim has the ability to make the listener feel the emotion behind every song played live. Tim is influenced heavily by early 90's alternative bands such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, and friend/former bandmate Dylan Shepherd, as well as singer/songwriters such as Damien Rice and Glen Hansard.

Mario LaForgia (Bass, Vocals) - Mario LaForgia is the bassist and resident home recording guru for The Good Mess. Mario was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1988. After trying the guitar beginning at the age of 9, Mario switched to bass when he was 12 years old. Mario was also the bassist in the band All Eyes on June, along with Tim Mellor. The bass guitar is like an extra appendage for Mario. His ability to maintain sharp steady rhythm while incorporating slick, slappy, funky bass riffs into the songs, contribute significantly to the final product. Mario counts bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queens of the Stonage, and Modest Mouse as influences, along with an ever growing list of modern indie bands.

Mike Skierski (Drums) - Mike is an experienced drummer, having gigged with rock bands throughout Philadelphia for over 20 years. Mike has an uncanny ability to add the perfect amount of boom and pop to each song played. His next to perfect rhythm keeps the band in check, and his skill is superb. Mike was born and raised in Philadelphia, and has played (and continues to play for) Stellar Belly, and Sonogram.

Josh Rovinsky (Guitar) - Josh was added to The Mess in August 2014. Josh learned the material quick, as a natural typically does, and meshed with Tim immediately on guitars. Born in Philly in 1988, Josh has been a local musician since high school, identified mostly as a solo singer/songwriter. Josh has jammed with Tim and Mario on and off for a few years, and was added to the lineup after trying out in July/August. Some of Josh's influences are Death Cab for Cutie, Pearl Jam, Guster, and 311 among many others.
