Been fortunate enough to see Jon Stevens several times over the years and again he didn't fail to entertain. He is a true gentleman of the industry and it was wonderful to share a special moment after the concert and get my shirt signed. Can't wait for your next show in Perth.

Jon Stevens Biography

Jon Stevens (1962- ) is a New Zealand-born singer, now an Australian citizen.

Stevens moved to Australia after success as a pop star in New Zealand in the 1970's (his best-known songs from this era are Jezebel and a cover of Montego Bay). He is most recognised for his work as the lead singer of Sydney band Noiseworks, who had major hits in the 1980's with "Take Me Back" and "Touch". Once Noiseworks disbanded, Stevens was part of two Australian productions of Jesus Christ Superstar - playing Judas on both occasions, to high acclaim.

In 2000 he followed the footsteps of Jimmy Barnes and Terence Trent D'Arby by fronting the Australian rock band INXS as a stand-in for Michael Hutchence. He and INXS released a Sydney 2000-related theme song entitled "Carry the Flame", and although he toured with the band as their singer, it wasn't until October 2002 that he was officially instated as their lead singer. He quit the band a year later before an album was released, and it wasn't until 2005 that INXS found J.D. Fortune as their lead singer.

2004 saw Jon release "Ain't No Life For The Faint Hearted", a modern R&B album best known for its cruisy cover of The Doors' "Light My Fire".

In 2005, Stevens has released a new album called "The Works", recorded as part of the Liberation Blue acoustic series. The album is stripped back and kept simple, showcasing Jon's powerful vocal abilities.

Stevens is the brother of New Zealand Idol host Frankie Stevens.
