Cola Wars Biography

What may have started life in the shadowy world of ‘side-projects’ has now morphed into a fully-fledged musical obsession. So goodbye to the name that was just "a bit of a joke" and hello COLA WARS. ANTECEDENTS TO COLA WARS Being heavily influenced by metal Shane Wakker’s focus in life had become 70% drums and 30% drum scaffolding when Cam Baines met him at Bodyjar drummer auditions. Cam knew straight away something thing had to go "and it wasn’t Wakker’s endless bag of tasty drum fills". Being forced to dismantle the contraption that surrounded his drums by new fellow band members was probably a very good thing for Shane and a particularly good thing for his back. It signaled a new beginning for Shane, his back and the band. Cam and Mikey were housemates during the FAO (For Amusement Only) era. Cam always dug Mikey’s axe work and admired his unnatural love for Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora. FAO supported the Jar a lot… partly because they had the same manager, but largely because FAO were always happy to play for 6 beers and a jug of water. Mark, COLA WARS bass player, was once a guitar teacher at the music shop where Cam use to work. Not having lain eyes on him for five years, Cam and Mikey stumbled on Mark busking on the mean streets of Melbourne. Mark was then living in a secret bamboo hut hidden in the botanical gardens. "At the time his only worldly possession was a small but impressive collection of discarded jokers from decks of playing cards.. for what it’s worth, we pretty much saved his life." We have an E.P called 'The heartless hype' out Feb 11th, and Melbourne launch on Feb 15th.
