About this concert
LIVE ON STAGE THE BEVVY SISTERS Jazz, blues, folk, soul and the sweetest, sassiest vocal harmonies you'll ever hear! http://www.bevvysisters.co.uk/ On the Decks: JAMIE RENTON Floor-filling sounds from here, there, everywhere and beyond! https://www.mixcloud.com/jamie-renton/ Live and direct from Scotland, The Bevvy Sisters present a joyous, wide-ranging sound, simultaneously channelling the heritage of such classic sister-acts as the Pointers and the Boswells, while their own diverse backgrounds and collective songwriting skills reinvent the female trio formula. With original songs, great singing and attitude at the forefront of what they do. A musical institution for over a decade now, Heather Macleod, Gina Rae and Louise Murphy, alongside fellow Bevvy 'Sister' David Donnelly, have headlined as many genres of festivals as they cover themselves musically, as well arranging and performing backing vocals with English folk star Eliza Carthy, Scottish super-trio Lau, Eddi Reader, Karine Polwart Dick Gaughan, Peggy Seeger and Dave Swarbrick. They don't often play in London. So grab this rare opportunity to experience The Bevvy Sisters' uncanny musical empathy and alchemy. Round the Bevvys live sets, host and DJ Jamie Renton will be spinning sounds to keep you moving and smiling on a summer night.

THE BEVVY SISTERS Biography

Originally formed as an offshoot of all-star swing combo The Loveboat Big Band, The Bevvy Sisters simultaneously channel the heritage of such classic sister-acts as the Beverleys, the Andrews and the Boswells, while their own diverse backgrounds and collective songwriting skills reinvent the female trio formula. Debut album St James Sessions, launched with a sold-out show at Glasgow’s world-famous Celtic Connections festival in 2010, won glowing reviews and UK-wide airplay, while captivating live shows continue to extend their fan-base. Besides headline appearances up and down the country, they’ve collaborated with English folk star Eliza Carthy, Scottish super-trio Lau, and in an international project involving iconic fiddler and singer Dave Swarbrick, Canadian reggae artist Jason Wilson and Scotland’s legendary Dick Gaughan. The Bevvy Sisters have won a uniquely distinctive place in audiences’ hearts. Their radiantly triple-layered voices and artfully wide-ranging repertoire of vintage, contemporary and original songs stand out from the crowd in both style and substance. Following a busy year of travelling with their new, honed-in line-up - Heather Macleod, Gina Rae, Cera Impala and David Donnelly have recorded a new album - PLAN B - Due for release early 2014. Eleven hot tracks, original and traditional, all sealed with their signature blend and feel-good factor. Capturing the spirit of their live performance - The joy and wow of three voices singing out as one. xxx NEW ALBUM 'PLAN B' OUT NOW www.bevvysisters.co.uk
