Classic Album Sundays presents Sister Sledge on We Are Family.
Sister Sledge's We Are Family is one of the most iconic dance albums of all time and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Its title track is an enduring classic that has resounded at key life moments with people from all backgrounds. Debbie Sledge and Kim Sledge join Classic Album Sundays founder/broadcaster Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy to look back to the creation of the album that also includes hits 'He's The Greatest Dancer', 'Lost In Music' and 'Thinking of You' and to the greater cultural context of disco and it's legacy.
The session will also feature a vinyl replay of the Chic-produced album immersing fans in some of the most joyous sounds of the Seventies.

Fabulous evening - Roundhouse is such a good venue! We had standing tickets and managed to stay at the front for the whole show. Support Horsemeat disco were great (as were the fun dance troop. Sister Sledge were their usual fabulous selves, lots of glitz and music to boogie to. Fabulous- only let down was queues for the bars!

Sister Sledge Biography
The American musical vocal group consisting of sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim and Kathy Sledge, achieved international success at the height of the disco era with breakthrough album We Are Family. The iconic single "We Are Family" reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy Award nomination. Further dance-floor anthems include "He's the Greatest Dancer", "Lost in Music", "Thinking of You" and 80's pop smash "Frankie".
Following the unexpected passing of sister Joni in 2017, the group continues to tour and is still very much a family affair with Debbie Sledge performing alongside daughter Camille Sledge, son David Sledge and Joni's son Thaddeus Sledge. They are joined by longtime member Tanya Ti-et and are often known as Sister Sledge ft. Sledgendary, and perform with their spectacular band all over the world, specialising in BRINGING THE PARTY with the family’s classic hits. In 2022, the group released ‘FREE’– their first single as a collective in almost 20 years. Following a 4-star review in The Times for their Roundhouse show in London, the family continue to deliver the ‘Sledgendary’ message that “Nothing is Greater than Love”, spreading joy with music that uplifts and celebrates life, love and togetherness.
