City Of Souls Biography

HYPE. It is a word that Auckland six piece City of Souls were bound to deal with from their inception. Boasting members from bands that have etched their mark on the local and international hard rock and metal scene such as Blindspott, Blacklistt, 8 Foot Sativa, New Way Home, Cold By Winter, In Dread Response and Solstate, City of Souls was set to stir some interest, and stir they have. Too often when something is hyped it is followed with disappointment, yet the first City Of Souls single Sleep arrives unashamedly explosive, touting emotive energy juxtaposed with a certain calm which will become this band's signature. Recorded at Roundhead Studios, it was mixed by legendary engineer Clint Murphy, and mastered at Sterling Sound in New York. With a power reminiscent of Deftones and hinting at new wave, the song progresses and transcends towards a critical peak, and a journey into Killing Joke territory, before spiraling back out into the melodic emotive hook of the chorus. Received overwhelmingly by a growing fanbase, added to radio for day and night rotation Sleep went straight to number one on the itunes rock chart. The second single Water was instantly added to NZ most influential rock network The Rock FM. Video director Ziga Zupancic created a magical piece of work which has been recognised for his outstanding creativity in Film Festivals globally and Wins Best Director & Best Music Video at Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival Their third offering Long Gone comes by way of internationally acclaimed engineer I producer Forrester Savell (Shihad, Karnivool, Sikth) who worked closely with the band to ensure the follow up to 'Water' brought the bands sound to a new level. The result was a an epic juggernaught of an anthem that is set to make serious waves. With over 400,000 plays on Spotify and directly opening for British giants Bring Me The Horizon, CITY I OF I SOULS have become a force that can no longer be ignored. On the strength of their first single they were offered a tour support role for Devilskin on their Mountains & the Moon Tour. Headlining New Plymouth NZ Art & Tattoo Festival as well as performing at the NZ festival Homegrown to 17 ,000+ people. On the strength of their second single they secured their next highly successful national tour as direct support to Vodafone NZ Music Awards Best Rock Album winners Villainy. They also had tour support for Australian band Dead Letter Circus and Internationally acclaimed Jakob. The third single LONG GONE continuing their winning streak saw them returning to the main stage at Homegrown 2017, direct support for Devilskin and US rockers Halestorm. They played to over 14,000 people at Rock In The Park which secured a campaign with the ROCK FM. The highly anticipated debut album is currently in the works with Forrester Savell at the helm, there is no doubt CITY I OF I SOULS are going to make some serious waves at home and abroad with no signs of slowing down FOR ALL ENQUIRIES PLEASE CONTACT MARCUS POWELL E-MAIL: MARCUS@CITYOFSOULS.CO.NZ MOBILE: +64211055138 debut single: March 2015
