Animal Sun will be coming to Silver Lake for the first time for a stripped down set at the Silverlake Lounge on September 14th! Set time begins at 8PM, and with just $10 at the door, this is a must see event for any indie rock fan!
*With the release of their debut EP “Beginnings", Animal Sun takes on some classic genres and gives them a fresh, youthful spin all their own. Lush with addicting progressions, an all around edgy yet soulful vocal style with persistent pop undertones, Animal Sun’s sonic appeal boasts the aesthetic of indie rock anthems.
Formed in 2015 and lead by two brothers; primary vocalist/songwriter Steven Blake and drummer William Alton originally cut their teeth playing in small clubs up and down the east coast. Deciding to name the band Animal Sun was in dedication to their late friend and musical compadre James Sun, who’s life was tragically cut short in 2011.
By 2017, Animal Sun began recording rough cuts of songs with Virginia Beach local legend Robert Ulsh. The band was soon appearing all over local radio, playing national sized stages, and opening for noteworthy touring acts such as The Frights , The Orphan The Poet, and Alvarez Kings throughout the region. Flash-forward to fall 2018 and Steven Blake had moved to Los Angeles, California where he began production with Grammy award-winning engineer Robert Margouleff, and partner Aaron “Zeus” Zepeda. Together they selected a number of songs from Animal Sun’s catalog that would become the band's first major recording. Their debut single "Girl in Blue" was released on June 20th, 2019, and their follow up EP Beginning's was released on July 30th, 2019.

Animal Sun Biography
Fresh off their US tour supporting Kelsy Karter; the alternative, LA based 4 piece known as Animal Sun have a lot to be thankful for. Their debut album ‘echoes of a dream’ reaching millions plays in just a few months after its release, with their lead single ‘girl in blue’ even earning a single deal with a division Universal Music Group. In tandem with their streaming success, Animal Sun also received support from major magazines such as Alt Press and Rock Sound, as well as renowned radio stations such as idobi and KROQ. Their hit 'girl in blue' even snagged the #5 spot on KROQ Locals Only, with their follow up single ‘touch’ placing at #2 for multiple weeks in a row.

With their debut album behind them, Animal Sun is gearing up to release their sophomore effort July 27th, 2022. The band’s new era continues with the release of ‘I’M ALREADY DEAD feat. DREAMERS’
