Finland was named the World's Happiness Country for the second year in a row, so some of that joy will no doubt rub off on LA Phil fans, as Finnish native Esa-Pekka Salonen salutes his countryman Jean Sibileus. Maestro Salonen returns for the symphony's 100th anniversary celebration to conduct a world-premiere composition of his own, as well as Sibelius' Luonnotar, featuring South African soprano Golda Schultz. Crossed fingers the bars at Walt Disney Hall will be serving a lingonberry cocktail that evening as well.
