About this concert
THE HEADLINER | AT 6:15PM. Say She She is a female-led 8 piece Brooklyn based soul band, with classic girl-group harmonies. Think dreamy discodelic with an injection of Bollywood riffs and upbeat funky grooves! THE DJ | AT 7:30PM. Rashad Ringo Smith is one of the industry’s best kept secrets. A seven times Grammy nominated producer - in the vein of Quincy Jones and Holland-Dozier-Holland - and one of the original Hit Men at Bad Boy Entertainment. The man behind Eric B and Rakim’s ‘Dont Sweat The Technique’, Busta Rhymes’ ‘Whoo-Ha!’, Notorious B.I.G ’ ‘One More Chance’ Remix and LL CooL J’s ‘Doin’ It’, his musical innovations form an integral part of the fabric of hip hop as we know it today. A deep love of records and decades of digging in crates across countries paved the way for his musical adventures that solidified his sound as a maverick soundscaper. With a personal record collection of over 25k records ranging from Rare Soul, Funk, Jazz, Afro-Beat, House, Techno, Electro, Tropicalia and Disco, Rashad Ringo Smith pulls sounds from all corners of the record shop. Numerous New York residencies in the 90’s from Apollo theatre to Santos Party House led him to becoming resident tour DJ to Q Tip, Busta Rhymes, Questlove and currently Erykah Badu. A true gentleman selector in pursuit of the groove, always standing by a beat he believes in. You feel the integrity in his choices. THE OPENER, FOR KIDS AND KIDS-AT-HEART | AT 5:30PM. Puppetsburg does interactive, contemporary puppet shows with artisanal, handmade puppets for children ages 4 months to 5 years old at various locations across Brooklyn and Manhattan. The 45 minute shows involve dancing, instruments, dress-up "photo-ops," and bubble time, followed by a puppet story. Regularly exploring concepts like counting, simple vocabulary, hygiene, and hipster culture, Puppetsburg features “celebri-puppet” guests in a unique show that is entertaining for infants, toddlers, and parents alike. The Splendid Elephant show features Clementine rescuing Elephant, a new best friend from the zoo. To be fully prepared to meet her, young participants learn about the color grey, how to stomp, and above all, that an elephant never forgets the loyalty of a good friend. THE ARTIST IN GALLERY CUBED | ALL NIGHT. Emily Caisip is a Brooklyn based artist. She studied Illustration at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. After moving to New York from Los Angeles to pursue a career in editorial illustration, her interests grew to include murals, fine art and textile design. She works primarily with ink creating works intricately drawn and inspired by nature. The drawings and paintings for “22” is an exploration of bold colors and shapes juxtaposed with the softness and melodic way that plants exist in our world. LOOKING FOR MORE? Say She She Biography

The female-led soulful 8 piece, named as a silent nod to Nile Rodgers’ Chic*, will transport you with their classic girl group style 3 part harmonies and up tempo grooves
[ *Say She She is a word play on the French C’est chi-chic i.e. Its chic!]
The band’s sound pays homage to the girl groups of the late 70's and early 80’s with an injection of 90's RNB, and the occasional Bollywood discodelic riff.
The three strong female lead voices of Piya, Sabrina and Nya soar and glide throughout the groove oriented sets, bursting into a seamless blend of dreamy harmonies and catchy hooks.
Think Minnie Riperton meets The Supremes with a sprinkling of Asha Puthli.
All this doused heavily in the rhythmic wah guitar, melodic synths, bansuri flute lines and badass horn section.
