John de Sohn Biography

After a string of successful remixes for artists including Bruno Mars and Flo Rida, Swedish DJ/Producer John De Sohn broke into the international music scene in 2012 with his first single, “Long Time feat. Andreas Moe.” Signed to a worldwide deal by Sony Music Sweden and Epic Records in the USA, “Long Time” became a worldwide hit that positioned John De Sohn as an established name in the Swedish Dance music scene. “Long Time” became a Platinum single in Sweden, and in the US made the Top 10 Billboard Dance Radio chart for several weeks. In 2013, John followed up with the singles “Dance Our Tears Away” and “Under The Sun,” crowning the year with an MTV Europe Awards nomination for Best Swedish Act, along with Icona Pop, Avicii, and Sebastian Ingrosso. Björn Johnson, a.k.a John De Sohn, started out as a bedroom producer and DJ in his native Ystad, Sweden. Drawing inspiration from electronic music artists like Kraftwerk, Daft Punk, and The Chemical Brothers, Björn’s parents encouraged him at an early age to follow his passion for music. Björn became involved in the Stockholm club scene, and soon found himself as the resident DJ for some of the biggest clubs in Sweden. As he cemented his place in Sweden’s burgeoning dance music scene, Björn began to produce his own original material and DJ under the name John De Sohn. When not touring, John spent most of 2014 in the studio recording his first album, "Far From Home". The album brought together songwriters, producers and vocalists such as frequent RedOne collaborator Jakke Erixson, Eric Turner, Linnea Henrisson, and Niklas Lundin, among many others. The album was well received among fans and media alike and catapulted John into the top tear of Swedish pop-producers. Following the success of “Far From Home” John has tweaked his sound into a genre-busting fusion of electro house melodies that collide together to create a definitive pop crossover sound. Expect big hooks, mind-bending beats, and inspiring lyrics that play at a frantic pace. MTV EMA nominated house DJ from Sweden.
