The Natural Disasters Biography
Based out of the world's greatest ski town - Aspen, Colorado, The Natural Disasters were unleashed on an unknowing world during the bleakest winter that the Colorado mountains have seen in decades. Lead singer and guitarist Jason Upper and drummer Gregger Balisiere (aka The Gregger) performed weekly gigs at the Aspen Brewing Company as a fun-timing duo called Thunder and Lightning. When the ski season turned from disappointing to downright ugly due to a lack of snow, the duo began to focus more on music than schussing, adding bassist Travis Pinkston and guitarist/singer/songwriter Corby Anderson to form The Natural Disasters. Soon after and the Disasters played a much heralded, tightly rehearsed series of rock shows at the end of the ski season in Aspen. Jamming a diverse, energetic blend of rock and roll, soul, reggae, country, and funk from influence such as Phish, Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Widespread Panic, The Mother Hips and many more, the Disasters have turned their winter-long residency at the Aspen Brewing Company into a rowdy happening that has drawn standing room at every occasion and location. With the off-season came inevitable change, and so as bassist Pinkston returned home to North Carolina, bassist Brian Howard joined the Disasters in early May 2012, adding a new element of jammerificness and songwriting punch to the band. In the summer of 2014, keyboardist, singer and restauranteur Jesse Wey joined forces and brought another level of jamminess and harmony to the now five-piece Disasters. Near the end of the 2014-15 winter season, Corby Anderson resigned from the band to pursue other interests. Danger Rock From Colorado's High Hills
