About this concert
Scotland’s most iconic and celebrated fiddle band Blazin’ Fiddles join forces with leading Scottish folk vocalist Emily Smith to play Queen’s Hall for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of their 2019 Scottish tour.
Hot on the heels of the special Blazin’ Fiddles’ 20th anniversary tour, that culminated with a Celtic Connections headline show in January, the prolific Scottish folk act is back with a series of performances throughout Scotland for 2019 with support from special guest singer Emily Smith.
For the past two decades, no other band has captured the excitement, passion and the sensitivity of Scottish music quite like Blazin' Fiddles. Fiddlers Jenna Reid, Bruce MacGregor, Rua Macmillan and Kristan Harvey will be joined by Anna Massie on guitar/fiddle and Angus Lyon on piano, each drawing distinct inspiration from their part of the Highlands and Islands to create a fiery blend of music known to audiences up and down the country.
Multi award winning singer Emily Smith is a leading figure in the Scottish folk scene. For over a decade she has entertained audiences all over the world with her blend of traditional and original songs, blurring the lines between old and new. Emily has released eight studio albums and collaborated with many musical greats from the folk scene and beyond including Barbara Dickson, Richard Thompson, Eddi Reader, Jerry Douglas and Beth Nielsen Chapman.
