7:30 PM
Paris Cat Jazz Club
6 Goldie Pl, Melbourne, Australia
Anea Duratovic and Nick Abbey have come together to form a brand new duo project based out of Perth. Exploring original compositions and jazz standards alike, this exquisite vocal/double bass pair embrace the act of creating to present innovative, lyrical, and uplifting music.

After several years travelling throughout Europe from her base in London, vocalist Anea Duratovic is back making waves in Perth, effortlessly delivering beautiful melodies and compelling stories in her signature warm and sultry tone. Having honed her craft through the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), WA Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO), and New York University (NYU), Anea has emerged as a thoroughly unique talent to be reckoned with, equally at home on the local scene or sharing the big stage with the likes of James Morrison, Kristin Berardi, Gian Slater, and the Mace Francis Orchestra.

Rounding out the duo is renowned Perth bassist Nick Abbey. Well known for holding down the low end in many of Perth's finest jazz outfits, Nick's unique stylings on the upright and electric basses are complemented by his striking approach to composition. He was a finalist at the prestigious National Jazz Awards in 2015 and is a four-time recipient of the WA Music Industry (WAM) 'Jazz Song of the Year' (2012, 2013, 2014, 2019), most recently for Song for The Days When from his remarkable debut album Phantoms (Newmarket Music). Soon to finish his PhD through WAAPA, Nick has also featured with national and international luminaries, including Troy Roberts, Paul Grabowsky, Jamie Oehlers, Tom O’Halloran, Peter Bernstein, Vivian Sessoms, George Garzone, John Scofield, Paul Bollenback, Alex Norris, Jim Pugh, and Howard Levy.

Tonight they will be joined by a very special guest!
