Makisi Biography

Makisi made his debut in 2015. His first EP “Famili” charted the top 20 on iTunes hitting #13 in its first 24 hours. Makisi is a well known local artist out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Like many well known singers, he gained his love for singing and music in church at a young age. At just 16 Makisi started making appearances and performing at small local gigs. That love progressed and grew as he began his musical journey with the help and mentorship of other artists in the Salt Lake music scene. Through those performances his craft has grown and evolved and over the years he’s opened up for some of reggae music’s biggest names. He’s shared the stage and has had the privilege of opening up for artists such as Steel Pulse, Gappy Ranks, Pam Hall, JC Lodge & many more.

He’s released several singles on all media outlets and in preparation of his newly anticipated album Makisi has been busy in studio, writing and recording. He lives by his beliefs and it shows in his dedication to his craft and the music he creates. With his versatility and vocal range Makisi does not limit himself to one particular genre of music. He’s known to touch those in need with his powerful voice and his lyrics are known for touching souls on the most relatable aspects of life. At a young age he was told, “You are the voice for the people who don’t have a voice.” It has become his mantra and he carries that saying throughout his music journey. Makisi is proud of his cultural Tongan heritage and background and he stays rooted to that background by releasing several songs in his native tongue. You can follow and keep up with Makisi and his music by following him on all your social media outlets @makisimusik.
