CC Miles Biography

Whether on stage, on tape, or on-screen, CC Miles invites everyone into her world.
By way of candid lyrics, relatable charm, and undeniable charisma, the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist imparts a storytelling sensibility on impassioned and irresistible pop. Driven by her voice as a writer and augmented by personal instrumental prowess, she shines through each side of every song.
At first listen, you might just feel like you know her…
“I want to take a singer-songwriter route within popular music,” she affirms. “I’m definitely a storyteller. I’ve been putting my own experiences and thoughts down for as long as I can remember and then translating them into stories. The best way to do so for me is in pop.”
Born and raised in Medford Lakes, NJ, she immediately gravitated towards music even though she does not come from a musical family. Inspired by everyone from Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and P!NK to Train and Goo Goo Dolls, CC delivered her first performance at a charity gig at age 4, and then at age 6 she began formal voice, piano and guitar lessons and dramatically developed her chops. At the age of eleven, she started to play weekly shows at local bars as her dad showed support by not only chaperoning, but handling road manager and sound tech duties.
Honing her writing acumen throughout 2015, she independently introduced her debut EP, 9th Street, at just 13-years-old. Building a devout audience, she unveiled the follow-up EP From My Room in 2017 and her first full-length album Almost a year later.
Produced by Andrew Seltzer [Maggie Rogers, Janelle Kroll, Chelsea Cutler], the album illuminated the scope of her signature style. She culled songs from moments of her life, commemorating the night she met Taylor Swift on “Sixty Thousand Dreams” and paying homage to her favorite show The Vampire Diaries on “Tendency.” Meanwhile, “Beautiful Lies” strikes a chord with its intimate lyricism and powerful delivery. The songs exude pop charm, but they also tap into a relatable sense of nostalgia, detailing her life as a high school senior and preserving it forever on tape. As such, the songstress attracted early critical acclaim with profiles in Burlington County Times and SJ Mag. Meanwhile, The Courier Post celebrated her “smooth, melodic voice”.
Throughout 2018, she continued to work with Seltzer, widening the sonic palette further.
“Andrew really challenged me and encouraged me to try new things,” she goes on. “It’s been amazing working with him because he is so talented and respects my ideas. He can capture exactly what I am picturing in my head. We were able to make something friendly and uplifting, but also deep.”
Her first 2019 single release “I Can’t Kiss Boys At Parties” illuminates that spirit. She took the reins and penned the lyrics and the music, as well as playing keyboards, while Seltzer handled the production of the track. Hinging on a high-powered and hashtaggable hook, CC’s powerhouse voice takes hold as the lyrics paint a vivid and vibrant picture.
“The song is about being lonely in a crowded place,” she says. “Even though there are so many people there, none of them are the person you want. It was loosely inspired by my own life and my friends’ lives, because we’re seniors in high school, and everything is changing. Friends move on. Relationships break up. It’s all different. I wanted to capture that.”
With new music planned for release on a consistent basis, CC welcomes listeners into her world on her YouTube channel. In addition to covers, she opens up about what’s going on in her life, offering an unfiltered vignette. The channel also represents a bold step forward for the singer. She films and edits each clip herself and showcases a confidence and charisma that belies her age with regular vlogs twice a week as she narrates her own story. In between writing, recording, performing, and vlogging, she is enrolled in online classes at Berklee College of Music for songwriting - balancing her career, studies, and life seamlessly.
In the end, CC’s world gets more wonderful by the day.
“I write lyrics that are really close to me and true for me. Writing songs has taught me to value every emotion. Even when I feel sad, hurt, or angry I can turn that energy into a song that might help somebody else feeling the same thing and that’s what makes it all worth it.”
