Ramona Rose Biography
Ramona Rose is a 22-year-old Americana artist based in Leeds. Having grown up surrounded by a strong Folk scene, her sound is sculpted by classic Roots influences and fused with a fresh modern Rock approach gained from her time on the Northern music scene. A born storyteller, she delivers bold, compelling live performance laced with bluesy grit and Rock & Roll candour with nothing but a six-string and a loop pedal. Since 2014, her name has begun to spring up all over the Northern music scene. She has previously played live sessions for BBC Radio Leeds and BBC Radio Oxford, with her first single 'Jealous Heart' receiving airplay from BBC Introducing in West Yorkshire and Leeds Student Radio. In 2016, she competed for the chance to play Reading & Leeds Festivals in the Futuresound Competition, reaching the live heats at legendary Northern venue The Wardrobe. This summer, she embarked upon her first UK tour spanning six cities, including Manchester, London, and Sheffield, concluding at Towersey Festival alongside the likes of KT Tunstall and Jon Boden of Bellowhead. Her new single 'Grand Canyon' was released in late November 2017, which so far has been featured on AXS, She Makes Music, Pure M Magazine, We Love That Sound, and received airplay from radio stations all around the world, including support from BBC Introducing in West Yorkshire. ‘She’s telling her own stories with a deep soul that reminds us of Anna Calvi or even PJ Harvey with a heavier rock sound. It’s angry but beautiful at the same time’ - London Cafe 'She sings and performs like a seasoned singer who's been singing about life experiences since they could perceive, understand and learn from them' - AXS 'She hits the nail on the head with every sound' - We Love That Sound Americana laced with bluesy grit and Rock N' Roll candour
