The Darlins Biography
We’re sassy, rootsy and country,” says Erinn Bates. “Let’s just call it bluegrass with a smoky eye,” continues Jude Toy. Separately, Jude and Erinn had won national competitions, booked major gigs, and turned many heads on Music Row before they established their duo adventure as The Darlins. The soulful guitar playing and rich harmonies of Jude paired with the rootsy mandolin strumming and the hauntingly-beautiful voice of Erinn makes one hit-making team.
The Darlins met at the world renowned cosmetic company, Sephora, where both were working while pursuing music. Their unique blend of rocking country guitar riffs tinged with bluegrass-infused mandolin and vocals, make this hot female duo a force to be reckoned with on the country scene. After a year of winning crowds over with their harmonies and self-penned tunes, the duo began opening for artists including Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry, Kacey Musgraves, and Darryl Worley. They also secured endorsements with MAC Cosmetics, Breedlove Guitars, Julie Miles Designs, Capturing Couture and Durango Boots.
In 2016, the release of their debut EP "Crush" brought about even more recognition and nominations at the Nashville Industry Music Awards and the L.A. Music Awards. The Darlins were recently named the 2017 Duo of the Year at the largest Independent Music Awards show, The Josie Music Awards. Music Row Magazine's renowned journalist, Robert K. Oermann, said this about their title track, "Crush": "This female duo has a sensuous sound on a slow burning track. A resonator guitar weaves through the arrangement as they languidly drawl their desire in harmony. Feverish."
Their newest single "Blackberry Whiskey" released on September 8th, 2017 with a music video soon to follow. It won’t be long before the airwaves and the wind will be whispering with the sound of The Darlins: high heels stomping out neo-traditional versions of country and bluegrass, like a whirlwind Alison Krauss, Trisha Yearwood, and Dolly.
