Our popular Summer Jazz Series returns to Scandinavia House! Tonight, the Mikkel Ploug Trio, featuring Danish guitarist Mikkel Ploug with bassist Jeppe Skovbakke and drummer Sean Carpio join us for a performance of the melodically strong, harmonically original songs from Ploug’s ever-evolving repertoire. As a special on this tour, the trio will premier new arrangements of Danish Grawemeyer Award-winning composer Bent Sørensen's Nocturnes. “Danish guitarist Mikkel Ploug is on his way into the champions league of contemporary jazz. He graduated as Master of Jazz Guitar from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, Netherlands with a special distinction for his original composition. Mikkel has since had a very multifaceted career including as a soloist with the Royal Danish Ballet and numerous commissions by the Danish Art Council to work on speech-derived composition.
