About this concert
June 1st 2019 in St Edward's Church, Stow-on-the-Wold at 7:30pm
Doors open, 6:30pm, Wine bar from 6:30pm
Music at Stow is proud to present Cellissimo - A Quartet of Cellos
The cello, with its incredibly rich tone is an extremely versatile instrument. With its four-octave range, it lends itself particularly well to quartet playing, easily covering the sweet, high treble end of the instrument, as well as the warm, darker lower range that we are more familiar with. In fact, the cello's warm, sonorous timbre makes it, some say, nearest to the quality of the human voice.
The concert will include familiar favourites, and lesser known gems by Monteverdi, Purcell, Bach, Mozart and Tchaikovsky.
For this concert cellists Jenny Curtis, Rachel Howgego, Lois Mattson and Stephen Pett come together to perform a wide range of music which will delight any listener - a night not to be missed in this wonderful 12th century church in the Cotswolds.
Tickets are also on sale for this event from Borzoi Bookshop box office, 1 Digbeth Court, Digbeth Street (Opp. The Crock Shop).
