ZIGZO Biography

ZIGZO is the founded band by the former vocal member of the visual kei band MALICE MIZER Tetsu, with Sakura from L'Arc~en~Ciel, Ryo and Den from the band BY-SEXUAL.

The musical style of the band is hard to describe, because it was rock that varied from song to song. Sometimes more punk-like, though also sometimes almost pop-rock. They were possibly more comparable with Plastic tree in their commercial phase, only harder and with harsher vocals.

Clothes wise they were a typical rock band: Leather accessories were often prefered. Though sometimes they simply wore t-shirts and other casual clothes.

BIOGRAPHY
In March 1998, Sakura (Dr.) (ex- L'Arc~en~ciel), Ryo (Gu.) and Den (Ba.) (both ex- By-Sexual) decided to make a new band. In August of the same year, Tetsu (Vo.) also known as the first vocalist of Malice Mizer, joined them. But they only really became active in Febraury of the following year. They did their first lives at that point in time as "Marisu An Sekkusu", and changed their name to ZIGZO. Their first big concert followed in April in Akasaka BLITZ, the official birth of ZIGZO, so to speak.

Their first single appeared very early, and thanks to a fast growing fanbase, they performed in the same month along side bigger names such as Lareine, Gackt and Sex Machinguns at "SHOCK WAVE Illusion '99". This, and four other performances at several different events gained them even more popularity. That was enough of a reason for them to bring out their second single "Himawari".

Straight after the single they started their first tour called: "The 1st Scene ZIGZO". After this tour their first album "Monster Music" and a video, which was filmed during the tour, appeared.

Despite growing popularity, Sakura and Tetsu didn't rely on luck. Both of them worked very often as co-moderators for different radio stations, with a preference for programs specialising in indies and rock, and often played their own songs on these shows.

They released 3 singles in 2000, that found relatively big popularity, and the album "Add 9 Suicide" which followed a tour of the same name at the end of November.

The year 2001 went more or less the same as the previous two years for them. The band took part in alot of events, participated in radio programs, released single 6 and 7, released yet another video, which contained extracts from concerts, and held a tour called "The World Introduction".

In November their last single "Chelsea" appeared, and after the name-related tour "Holidays in Chelsea". At this point the band decided to break up, as it seemed, without any reason, and so at the beginning of the next year their best of appeared. But the band bid their fans farewell with a last big tour, which they baptised "The Last Scene ZIGZO" in remembrance of their first tour.

Not long after the end of Zigzo, Tetsu became active again and started the band nil. Ryo and Den both went to the band test-No, and are now together again at Pt.. Sakura is now pretty successful with the band Sons of all Pussys in which he plays with his old collegue Ken from L'Arc~en~Ciel.
