Calico Jack

ENG: Captain John Rackham, better known as Calico Jack, was a notorious sea raider who sailed across the Caribbean Sea during the Golden Age of Piracy. He is famous for inventing the legendary Jolly Roger, the pirate flag by definition, and for having the two strongest pirate woman is his crew: Anne Bonny and Mary Read. The band was founded on 2011 by brothers Toto(rhythm guitar) and Caps(drums) with the purpose of merging classic eighties' heavy metal with the most recent Scandinavian folk metal, soaking everything in a seafaring atmosphere, inspired by folk songs and sea shanties of the Anglo-Saxon tradition. The crew is formed fast with Dave the fiddler, Joe the vocalist and Ricky Riva the bassist. After some changes, also joined the group as lead guitarist Melo. During 2012, the band performs live at various clubs and bars near Milan. In November 2012 the first demo was released, completely manufactured in house, at no cost, with the help of band's friend Marco Burla. Our heroes are now working on loads of new songs and looking for new dates to promote their release. In June 2013, the band enters the "Frequenze Studio" in Monza, to record an EP titled "Panic In The Harbour" Bonecrusher containing 4 new songs that combine the power of the Heavy 80 'to a massive dose of alcoholic Folk, disc where the publication takes place on October 5. In a short time the EP receives many positive reviews both Italian and foreign, and in November the band was offered a contract by Nemeton Records, for a task of Management and Booking, whose signature shall be formalized in January 2014. The band performed in loads of events and festivals around Italy, including Sinistro Fest and Mediolanum Folk Fest. In 2015 the band is recruited by Ronin Agency along with acts like Node and Ideogram, and is currently writing material for the debut album to be released later this year. ITA: Calico Jack, noto anche come capitan John Rackham, era un famigerato predatore dei mari, che bazzicava dalle parti del Mar dei Caraibi durante l'Età dell'Oro della Pirateria. E' famoso per aver inventato il Jolly Roger, la bandiera pirata per definizione, e per aver avuto nella sua ciurma le due donne pirata piu' forti di sempre: Anne Bonny e Mary Read. La band è stata fondata nel 2011 dai fratelli Toto(chitarra ritmica) e Caps(batteria) con l'obiettivo di fondere l'heavy metal dei mitici '80 con il più recente folk metal Scandinavo, il tutto avvolto da un' atmosfera marinaresca, ispirato dalle canzoni popolari e dai canti marinari della tradizione Anglosassone. La ciurma si forma subito con il violinista Dave, il cantante Giò e il bassista Ricky Riva. Dopo qualche cambiamento si unisce al gruppo anche Melo(chitarra solista). Nel 2012, la band si esibisce in vari locali e pub nei dintorni di Milano. Nel novembre 2012 esce il primo demo, completamente fatto in casa, a budget 0, con l' aiuto dell'amico della band Marco Burla. I nostri eroi stanno ora lavorando su pacchi di nuove canzoni, e sono alla continua ricerca di nuove date per promuovere la loro uscita. A Giugno 2013 i Calico Jack entrano nei Frequenze Studio di Monza per registrare un EP dal titolo "Panic In The Harbour" contenente 4 nuovissime canzoni spaccaossa che uniscono la potenza del Heavy anni 80' a una dose massiccia di Folk alcolico, disco la cui pubblicazione avviene il 5 ottobre. In breve tempo l'EP riceve numerose recensioni positive sia italiane che estere e in Novembre alla band viene offerto il contratto dalla Nemeton Records, per un'attività di Management e Booking, la cui firma viene ufficializzata a Gennaio 2014. La band ha occasione di promuovere il nuovo lavoro, esibendosi in numerosi posti per l'Italia e in festival quali Sinistro Fest e Mediolanum Folk Fest. Nel 2015 i Calico Jack firmano un contratto con la Ronin Agency
