About this concert
Black Peaches make their first ever visit to Guildford in support of their explosive new album 'Fire in The Hole' - released in May. 'Fire In the Hole' is the long-awaited follow up to their critically acclaimed 2016 debut 'Get Down You Dirty Rascals'. It is a dazzling a display of musicianship, just as accomplished, if not more so, than its predecessor. Catch the video for new single 'Lemonade' here: https://youtu.be/vbtYY0f0vcE"target= Black Peaches come from a musical point halfway between the swamp and the tropics - a psychotropic stew of country boogie, spiritual jazz and funk. With fuzz-toned slide guitars, Latin percussion and shimmering keyboards, Black Peaches sound is a cinematic experience, the soundtrack to a bar fight at the country disco or an incantation of the black arts. The band are led by Rob Smoughton, probably best known as a long-time member of Hot Chip and Scritti Politti, and whose alter-ego Grovesnor has released a number of albums to critical acclaim. Black Peaches' highly regarded musicians have also worked with Floating Points, Alexis Taylor, Zongamin, Karl Blau, Vanishing Twin, Cold Specks, Reverend John Wilkins, The Severed Limb and many others. Black Peaches Biography

Rob Smoughton is probably best known as a long-time member of Hot Chip and Scritti Politti, while his alter-ego Grovesnor has released a number of albums to critical acclaim. Now he unveils his new band, Black Peaches. A midway point between the swamp and the tropics, Black Peaches’ music is gloriously loose-limbed and strung-out: a psychotropic stew of country boogie, spiritual jazz and funk. With slide guitars, latin percussion and shimmering keyboards, the Peaches sound is a cinematic experience, the soundtrack to a bar fight at the country disco or an incantation of the black arts. At other times they swagger with the easy confidence of Little Feat, Manassas, or Dr John to create a pulsating, unwinding groove for a hot summer's day where no one is in too much of a hurry. Aside from Rob Smoughton, Black Peaches features the talented members of Zongamin, The Severed Limb, Legends of Country and more. The band recorded live at Tinroom studios in November 2014 and have captured the excitement of their live shows. Drawn from the swamp and the delta, the Peaches’ music is loose-limbed and strung-out, a psychotropic stew of funk, jazz and country music.
