The Departure Biography
(The) Departure is the name of at least 3 bands: one metal band from Zwolle, Netherlands; one rock band from Northampton, England; and also a more electronic music oriented band.
1) Departure is a metal/hard rock band from Zwolle, the Netherlands. Their style is quite hard to pin-point: some tracks appoach death metal, others are barely metal.
Because of an error by some people scrobbling music Departure shows up here as The Departure. We are currently trying to fix this.
2) The Departure is (was?) a british rock band from Northampton, that formed in January 2004. Their debut album, Dirty Words, was released on June 13, 2005 by Parlophone.
The Departure is composed of David Jones (lead vocals), Sam Harvey (lead guitar),Ben Winton (bass guitar) and Simon Alexander (drums). These four unique individuals channel their passion, drive, and intelligence to churn the creative fires within, resulting in an indelible impression on all who encounter their sound. Imagine an 80’s sound with a twist, thumping bass lines, well placed lyrics and drum beats, which all comes together to form one driving force. Musical influences range from The Chameleons & Bowie, to Kate Bush & Blur.
The Departure has been touring extensively since 2004, and has recently finished their own tour and supporting We Are Scientists.
They are currently putting the finishing touches to their much anticipated second album entitled inventions, which is to be released early 2008. However, rumors say the band has split due to label issue

In 2004 Departure signed with Armada Records with their first release, “She Turns.” They have followed by collaborating with Markus Schulz and Gabriel and Dresden with the release of “Without You Near.” The band is currently working to complete their first album.
Departure distinguishes their music by their approach. They compose and produce music by writing the melody, bass line and lyrics while using real piano, guitar, and drums. The most exciting element of Departure’s music is that it can be performed live—creating an unforgettable experience for any club-goer. Influenced by the intelligence of Paul Van Dyk, the emotion of Muse, the simple elegance of Coldplay and the innovativeness of the Neptunes, Departure sets out to create the ultimate music experience. Motivated by the natural transcending and unifying quality of music, each song serves as a soundtrack to a part of the listener’s life.
