Unbroken Expanse Biography
Unbroken Expanse rose from that mythic Australia that many can recognise but few experience. Tennant Creek NT; it’s hard to think of anywhere more isolated. Midpoint between Darwin and Alice Springs. Red dust and yellow eyes. Your options here are limited. Either drink yourself to death or escape to conquer the world. Forget Brunswick, Tennant Creek is punk.
When Jimmi James left Thailand to work on a Tennant Creek cattle station – his head swimming with culture shock and Kirk Hammett solos – it was hard not to spot the three other music freaks in town. Jason, drum Viking; Wheezy, Strummer iconoclast; and Parko, Dion slickness that flick-knives into Iggy Pop thrash. The four of them were a disaster waiting to happen.
Of course, Tennant Creek couldn’t hold them long, and they quit their day jobs to find the places they had only read about in a the tattered communal Rolling Stone Parko snatched from the town hairdresser. Six days in a ratting van and they've arrived. Shaking red dirt out of their pickups and amps. The outback has something to tell the rest of Australia if it’s ready to hear it.
Terror inducing live shows, throttling audiences with drums and wires. Chain lightning flashes reveal electric metal solos. Drum bursts like fits of choking. Shark teeth facing backwards, they refuse to let go. White knuckle blasts of manic punk rock.
Unbroken Expanse is rock n’ roll without the handbook, learned by instinct. No salon-styled inner-city ennui, this is the music of true believers. Not trying to impress anyone other than the ghosts that flicker on the empty outback plains.
