Dark-wave enriched indie rock in 2019 – is this naive, or awesomely trendsetting?
Lizard Pool themselves, pay no heed to trends, although they come from the trendy city of Leipzig. Some say they revive the golden era of post-punk, others say they combine "weltschmerz" with rebellion. Lizard Pool play with downcast eyes but at the same time keep one on the dance floor, are actually dancing for themselves, and when they are not tapping their feet to the beat, they are somewhere on the fringes, watching the action while sipping a cold drink, wondering what the hell is going on, with life, with dreams and the anger.
Over the past two years, Lizard Pool has played numerous concerts, including support for Phillip Boa, Pink Turns Blue, She Past Away, Fliehend Stürme, and played some festivals such as the NCN, Out of Line Weekender and Plage Noire.
In early September 2018, the new Lizard Pool album "Spark" appeared on Out Of Line (Rummelsnuff, Blutengel, Combichrist), which in itself is an exclamation point, as the band brings a new, unusual facet to the label's portfolio.
