Camille Davila Biography

is an international song-writer/multi-instrumentalist and cult celebrity who is most often referred to as the "enigmatic pop-glam princess". Born in Los Angeles, California, she spent most of her life ping ponging the west coast and the last 6-7 years relocated in Europe, primarily Liverpool England. In 2000 she worked with Luc Leduc of Below Records to release her debut album Not for the Disco shortly before moving to Liverpool to study sound technology and continue her relationship with Below Records which re-located to Berlin, Germany. Two European tours followed with bands of Below Record’s fame (200T and the Bad Cassettes), along with gobs of scattered European gigs and a second album "World of Gliding Monsters", produced in the UK, Bergen Norway and Germany. Camille is one of the few of her kind to take the reigns on her projects, producing and arranging most of her tracks herself; in fact on some of her newest recordings she has even played every instrument. When choosing to collaborate, she played amongst some of Europe's finest musicians (including Stein Urheim of Steady Steele, Marius Simonsen of Pop Levi and Super Numeri and Pop Levi himself). Camille continued to play through a residency at Ladytron's newly opened club "Korova" while popping up for "special appearance" gigs globally. Camille's surrounding company has always been of interest to die-hard fans, from playing with ex-Jeff Buckley drummer Eric Eidel, to working for an organization run by Stewart Brand, Brian Eno and others at The Long Now Foundation, to debuting her residency with her opening players the Zutons! We even find a link to artist Snap Ant who she shared a flat with in Liverpool. After a brief return back to California to form a new band and play shows in America and Europe Camille brought her band to London to record her newest album Hi-C which is due to release in January of 2008. A new music video for song "Wireless World" directed by Jacqueline Passmore (visual artist for bands such as Ladytron and Stereolab) was launched in October 2007 and is looking forward to touring several film festival circuits next year. Camille Davila currently resides in the UK, California and Norway where she continues to play live and record, working on her own music and a new collaborative and untitled project with Jeron Gundersen of Dibidim and Grandama whom she worked with largely during the making of her previous two albums. Her music is released by Poly Records and available exclusively online through digital downloads and for sale through her website.
